Hierdie uitdaging behels \u0149 selfondersteunde fietsrit langs die roete wat deur Massive Adventures opgestel is. Die reis het by Drie Riviere, Vereeniging, suid van Johannesburg, begin en ongeveer 1 000 myl (1 600 km) later by Bloubergstrand, Kaapstad, afgesluit met die ikoniese Tafelberg in sig.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Gert Pienaar se ekspedisie het op 19 Augustus in Vanderbijlpark begin. Op die derde dag van sy reis, 21 Augustus, is hy net buite Bloemfontein deur \u0149 bakkie raakgery. Die bestuurder het hom egter te hulp gesnel en hom dadelik na die naaste hospitaal geneem. Gert het daarna etlike dae in die waakeenheid deurgebring, waar sy toestand geleidelik gestabiliseer het. Hy is later na die Zuid-Afrikaans Hospitaal in Pretoria oorgeplaas waar hy \u0149 rugoperasie ondergaan het.
