    In a season marked by love, togetherness, and the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth, it’s hard to imagine that this time isn’t as idyllic for all children.

    Many children experience this season only through the Christmas stories they read, and the only Christmas trees with gifts underneath are those they see in shopping centres. This is why it’s so important for us to bring hope and love to their Christmas.

    Meeting the physical and emotional needs of the 170 children at Abraham Kriel Children’s Home in Nylstroom is an enormous task. Most of these children are in our care due to neglect and/or abuse. For this reason, a sense of normality – and in many cases, exposure to a “new normal” – is incredibly important: a wholesome meal shared with new brothers and sisters, the unwrapping of a small gift, and of course, the joy of fun under the summer sun.

    ‘Tis the night before Christmas, not a sound to be heard…
