Abraham Kriel Children’s Home Nylstroom has several legends, i.e. famous people involved in the Children’s Home whom we awarded this honorary title. They help us with certain projects and by including us in their own network systems. Our legends are celebrities in the entertainment world and on the sports field. Our Abraham Kriel children look up to these legends. It gives them hope to see that you can achieve a lot when you leave the Children’s Home. 

Legends are important and positive role models for our children. Children who have positive role models are likely to engage in positive activities as well, just like those who inspire them and whom they have so much respect for. Positive role models cultivate positive and sustainable habits and perspectives that can stay with our children for a lifetime. 

People from the community can also become legends for our children by getting involved and becoming a friend of the Children’s Home.

We currently have a group of legends who help, offer guidance and give hope to our children. These legends are: Corlea Botha (singer), Elzaan van der Merwe (famous designer), Wynand Claassen (former Springbok captain), Dr. Riekie Smit (medical doctor, well-known aesthetician and television personality) and Adv. Anton Wiid (former children’s home resident and well-known in legal circles).
