Mother’s Day at Abraham Kriel Children’s Home Nylstroom

When we explore the essence of the word “mother,” it encompasses both the biological act of giving birth and the profound connection and nurturing role a person has with a child. A mother is someone who not only brings a child into the world but also devotes themselves to their care and well-being.

At Abraham Kriel Kinderhuis Nylstroom there are 170 children who, for various reasons, do not have the privilege of spending Mother’s Day with their biological mothers. At the Abraham Kriel Kindershuis Nylstroom, each and every child is fortunate to have a dedicated house mother who fulfills the vital role of a mother in their lives. These incredible individuals provide unwavering care, emotional nurturing, and daily support, ensuring that the children feel loved and supported at all times.

I would like to share two letters that we received from two of the Abraham Kriel girls.

“Good morning Tannie. I just want to say thank you very much for the love and effort that you put in. I appreciate everything. You have a special place in my heart. You are a very strong and special woman. You care about people. I look up to you a lot. I am very grateful for the opportunities you have given me to get my life on track. The children’s home has changed my life; I will never forget it. I am proud to be part of the family. Happy Mother’s Day, Tannie Gerda. Enjoy your day. ❤️❤️

“Dear Tannie Patsy 😊

I’m gonna remind you how we appreciate what you’re doing…

Thank you for playing the figure mom to us

For sharing the love you should be giving to your kids…

For always being there…

For being so understanding 😊

It takes the courage of a real mother to do that…

May you wake up each day knowing that you are highly appreciated and you’re not taken for granted despite the challenges you always come across 🖤

Much love🖤

From MAROELA 😊🤍🤗

Being part of the children’s lives in the children’s home is not only a privilege, but also a significant responsibility. We must strive to be the role models they can look up to and emulate.
