Year after year, Christmas arrives at Abraham Kriel Children’s Home Nylstroom with a silence that sits heavy on the heart. As vehicles leave the gate one by one, the question remains unspoken, yet clear: what does Christmas mean to a child who does not go home?

For many families, Christmas is synonymous with togetherness – a table surrounded by loved ones, and gifts wrapped in colourful paper and eagerly torn open. At the children’s home the day looks different, but the meaning and the need remain the same: children want to feel safe, loved and included.

In 2025 we reached out to our friends to make a little of that Christmas warmth possible for our children. Every child deserves to experience the joy of a festive meal, to be surrounded by love, to share in togetherness and to enjoy the celebration.

Our friends made that special moment possible by sponsoring plates of food for our Abraham Kriel children.

On 25 December, the children dressed neatly for our feast of hope at Weesgerus Resort. Beautifully set tables awaited us in the hall, a festive meal was served, and carols played softly in the background.

The Christmas lunch was special, and every child enjoyed it. It was not only about the food, but the whole experience – sitting together, sharing, laughing. The day was also filled with lighter moments – the children’s laughter in the sun as they played in and around the pool. Christmas Day 2025 was truly a day when our children could simply be children again.

We are sincerely grateful to everyone who made this day possible. Every donation helped turn a plate of food into a feast of hope.
