Children’s Home launches campaign for 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women and Children
The Abraham Kriel Children’s Home Nylstroom today launches its video to create awareness against the extremely high levels of crime against children. The video will be used to recruit 100,000 supporters over the next 4 weeks to sign the orphanage’s petition in the interest of children affected by various crimes and a system that functions unfriendly towards children.
The children’s home wants to:
1. Make more funds available from the state budget for the SAPS unit (Domestic Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Crimes Unit) that works with children.
2. More resources such as vehicles and personnel to address the emergency.
3. Greater focus on training the unit’s staff to increase expertise.
4. Adjust the legal process so that the child is handled with the greatest care and protection and is guided after a crime has been reported.
“We want to enlist the support of thousands of people until December 10, 2020, the last day of 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women and Children. On the day, we will hand over a memorandum with requests along with some of these affected children’s own letters and pictures of what they think the President should do. We hope that every adult will stand up for the children. ” says Marlene de Villiers, spokesperson at the Abraham Kriel Children’s Home Nylstroom.
The children’s home is asking the public to sign the petition and help distribute the video to achieve the goals for our children.
