2022 Matriculant part of Amy Bell Foundation

Johanna Phago, one of our matriculants from 2022, is flourishing in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth). Irvin Tam, a Chinese donor to our children’s home, offered her a position in the administrative department of one of his businesses where he rents out accommodation to students from the University of Port Elizabeth. The salary she earns is used for her personal needs, while Mr. Tam provides her with meals and accommodation. Johanna is also part of the Amy Bell Foundation, an international charity, which Irvin Tam manages in South Africa. At the Amy Bell Foundation’s center, dozens of children who have faced various forms of trauma receive compassionate care and support. They also have a scholarship program that offers a special child the opportunity to get a university education in the area.

A student who qualifies for this scholarship must meet certain requirements: a commitment to excellence in his/her studies; a desire to help others less fortunate; and the responsibility to act as a role model and good example for younger children.

As an Amy Bell Angel, Johanna has already shared her heart and talents at a school for the disabled.
