From 27 to 30 April, twelve of our school leavers had the privilege of attending an accredited first aid course in Hazyview – a valuable addition to their CVs.

The course was offered free of charge by Marius van Staden, and the children were accommodated free of charge at Ons Plek Lodge. In addition, they also had the opportunity to visit iconic sites such as the Mac Mac Pools and waterfall – an unforgettable experience!

During the trip, we also focused on life skills to help prepare them for leaving the children’s home: how to draw up a budget, make wise purchases, and plan meals. After a practical budgeting exercise, they soon realised:

“If you want to eat three meals a day, pizza isn’t always the best option!”

Marius has already confirmed that the next group of school leavers will also enjoy this opportunity.
