Beatrix runs 85 000 steps of hope
On Sunday, 27 April, Beatrix Thornhill, a chef from Johannesburg, took on the London Marathon in support of the Abraham Kriel Children’s Home Nylstroom.
What started as a form of personal therapy evolved into something deeper: a journey of hope. Beatrix turned her passion for running into an act of compassion. She dedicated her 85 000 steps to the challenges our 170 children face daily on their path toward a better future.
Each of the roughly 85 000 steps Beatrix ran during the London Marathon represented the difficult road our 170 children must walk toward a brighter future.
During her preparation, we reached out to our network for support: people from around the world sponsored a step at R15 each. The funds raised in this way will be used to support our children’s psychological needs – specifically counselling and therapy.
Well done, Beatrix! Your heart inspires our children and AKK friends.
