For Abraham Kriel Children’s Home Nylstroom, the involvement of churches means far more than support alone. It brings hope, love and the reassurance that our children are not alone.

A recent example is Oosterlig Gemeente in Pretoria. Their involvement began with a simple phone call. From that first conversation, a special relationship of care and support began to grow.

Their first visit to the congregation was initially filled with uncertainty: a new place, new people and unfamiliar surroundings. The warm welcome, however, soon put them at ease. Our children enjoyed the church service and were then treated to gift packs and a meal at Spur.

During a second visit, the group of children was once again warmly welcomed. After the service, they played together and made pizzas.

For our children, gestures like these make a real difference. Whether it is a church service, time spent together, a birthday treat or monthly support for one of the homes, each act of kindness helps them feel safe, cared for and hopeful.
