Entertainment and feasting at Abraham Kriel Children’s Home

“The highlight for me was the success, the warm atmosphere, and the children enjoying themselves shopping and socialising,” says event organiser Annie le Roux, describing this year’s Abraham Kriel Children’s Home festival on 15 June.

There were 53 stalls and plenty of entertainment for all ages. Singers Henri Alant and Nadia, along with the popular Teen Ons Wil, delivered exciting performances. The children’s home’s own Mango Groove dancers also took to the stage, and festival-goers “thoroughly enjoyed their talent,” says Annie.

Attendees also loved the stalls: Uncle Theo’s fries, Cecilia’s toys, and Sean’s pap and “kaiings” (cracklings) were the most popular. According to Annie, the exposure for exhibitors was significant, and many indicated they would definitely participate again next year. For the children of the children’s home, the festival was a wonderful opportunity to serve the community. Some served as waiters at the coffee shop, while others worked at various stalls. Thanks to a generous donor, they were able to spend their own money at the stalls. Abraham Kriel Children’s Home expresses gratitude for the wonderful day they were able to share with the community!
