On June 15th, we celebrated the second AKK festival. Gazebos were set up early in the morning while icy winds tugged at our coats. Sound systems were tested, and power checked. The grounds gradually came to life as more and more stalls were erected.

We were pleasantly entertained with music, and along with children’s laughter and people chatting, a medley of sounds filled the morning air. Among the stalls, you became aware of the delightful aromas of boerewors rolls, pap with cracklings, coffee and mini donuts, to name just a few of the treats.

The warm atmosphere drove away the winter chill. Later, everyone said their goodbyes with the promise: “We’ll be back again.”
