Abraham Kriel Children’s Home Nylstroom is excited that the talent show held on 25 May this year at the Weesgerus Resort was a huge success!

The purpose of this talent show was to provide entertainment and create an opportunity for children to showcase their talents and compete with each other. We wanted to motivate them and help them realise that they are “enough.” The theme of the talent show was “The Greatest Talent Show.”

The children could participate individually, in groups, or as a household in the following categories:

• Dance
• Singing, Comedy
• Poetry
• Open category

The children started practicing very hard from February 2024 and never gave up. A lot of time and energy was spent to stage the best possible productions for the community. With all the struggles and efforts, it was an experience to see that each act was unique and produced with much excitement, passion, and energy.

Adjudication was done by Mr. Sam Seleki Selokela, Ms. Whilma van der Merwe, and Mr. Wiets Botes. They sacrificed their valuable time and energy to be part of our great talent show.

The winners were announced on the evening of 25 May 2024, by our CEO, Mrs. Gerda van der Merwe.

The first place was awarded to the Mango Groove Group.

The Gumboots Dancers finished second.

The third place went to the Taaibos Crowd.

The entire evening was successfully hosted by our emcees who performed excellently in their roles. The programme was marked by a lot of excitement, but also stressful moments. However, each act was performed with passion and energy.

The talent evening was part of our fundraising project, and tickets were sold to the public. We raised awareness about what we do at the children’s home and showed the world how we change lives.

We believe that this opportunity has painted a positive image of the children’s home and we are already planning the next unforgettable talent evening brimming with inspiration for 2025. Keep an eye on the press and our website for more information.

Our motto says, “I can.” With our successful talent evening, we’ve shown, “We could.” With the planning for next year, we say, “We can do it again!”
