Glamour and dance for Abraham Kriel Children’s Home matriculants!
“My biggest dream is to achieve success in life so that I can help underprivileged people,” says Micayla, a 19-year-old matriculant who has already reached one of the biggest milestones on the road to success. She is in her final school year and is looking forward to her matric farewell. Micayla is one of the young people at Abraham Kriel Children’s Home who will complete school this year.
Nelly, Paballo, Micayla, and Gift are excited to embark on their adult lives. Twenty-year-old Nelly is still deciding what to do with her future, while eighteen-year-old Gift wants to work with animals. Micayla will be studying hospitality, while Paballo is not yet certain about her exact career path. Each youngster has their own special interests. Micayla is fascinated by space, stars, and planets, while Paballo has a passion for music and dance. Although these four matriculants have diverse interests, they all have one thing in common: they are excited to celebrate their matric farewell!
Gift and Micayla will complete their matric at Hoërskool Nylstroom, while Paballo and Nelly will finish at Solomon Mahlangu Secondary School. For each of them, this night will symbolise the difficult journey they have traveled thus far. Children from children’s homes often come from environments where they have not received love and support. Physical and emotional scars often make the road ahead very challenging. That they are about to complete their matric despite these challenges is already a significant achievement and proves that they can achieve success despite difficult circumstances.
To make Nelly, Micayla, Gift, and Paballo’s big night special, Abraham Kriel Children’s Home needs the support of its friends. The costs for the young people’s clothes, shoes, nails, jewelry, and makeup amount to approximately R24 000, or R6 000 per person. Abraham Kriel Children’s Home is therefore appealing to its network of friends to contribute to this night – an event that is more than just a single occasion, but a significant step on a journey from challenges to triumph!
