As a little girl, Micayla Jenkins always dreamed of becoming a chef.

After being placed at the Abraham Kriel Children’s Home in Nylstroom at the age of 12, her dream began to take flight.

For Micayla, cooking is more than just food preparation – it’s her way of leaving her past behind. She is by nature an introvert and prefers the quiet of the kitchen, a space where she can express her creativity. Our Abraham Koffiewinkel became a sanctuary for her, a place where she gained valuable knowledge about food and customer service.

Now, Micayla has the chance to make her childhood dream come true. On 19 February 2025, she started a new chapter at the International Hotel School in Sandton.

The Culinary Arts programme she is enrolled in spans two years. Unfortunately, our funds are limited, and we still need R121 500 to cover her first year of studies. Therefore, we appeal to our friends and supporters for help.
