On Saturday 14 June, Abraham Kriel Children’s Home in Nylstroom once again held its annual festival – and it was a real highlight!

Preparations were already underway from Thursday afternoon, with volunteers cleaning the grounds, checking the electricity, and moving tables and chairs into place.

Festivities kicked off early on a beautiful winter’s morning, with the aroma of fresh coffee in the air. Our stallholders were quickly at their stations, unpacking their goods and welcoming visitors.

There was a wide variety of products on sale – from sourdough bread, honey, and jams to succulents and handcrafted wooden items. Our line dancers also entertained the crowd with their dance routines.

We were overwhelmed by the positive feedback we received from festivalgoers:

“There truly was something for everyone. So sorry if you missed it. Thank you, Abraham Kriel!” said Jacobyne van Niekerk. Anne-Marie Fivas Buchling also thoroughly enjoyed the morning and thanked the children’s home for their excellent planning and hard work.

The funds raised during the festival will go toward supporting our ongoing projects.

Annie le Roux from the Children’s Home believes the day was a great success, despite the cold. “We’re truly grateful everything went so well. Now we look forward to our upcoming Talent Show and Light Festival. Thanks to the ongoing support we receive from the community, these are two events we’re very excited about.”
